This is going to be a short post, but wanted to get it out there.
We just found out that United Healthcare’s division Golden Rule Insurance – due to health care reform legislation will no longer be selling “child only” insurance policies. This is because they will be forced to cover the children with pre-existing conditions.
In the past, as an insurance broker – we used to be able to sell these “child only” policies to the employees of companies where we helped support their group health plan. A lot of times these “child only” policies were an affordable option to the group benefits they were being offered at their work.
Mark my words – United my be the first to do this – there will be more that follow.
